Drive to Digital

We finally took delivery of the Airsys Demonstration Vehicle at the end of May 2010. The arrival of this vital piece of equipment has been hotly anticipated by the whole team here at Airsys, but in particular by our Technical Services Manager, Steve Heard, and his engineering team who had a major hand in the design and build of the vehicle from day one.


Steve commented:

“I view the demonstration vehicle as an essential tool for myself and the Technical team to get the Digital message across to the channel. The priority for us is to communicate the value of digital PMR and the applications that run over it to the market as a whole, but that’s just the beginning. The vehicle is also going to serve our loyal customers and will be made available to Dealers to take the message on to their end users. We deliberately created the vehicle without any Airsys branding, so in the eyes of the end user this is the Dealer’s vehicle. The response we have had when we’ve turned up in it is incredible, it has to be seen to be believed”.

The original idea for the vehicle began as a simple trailer device that could be towed to dealers premises and would contain all the relevant Digital repeaters and applications which would run ‘out of the box’. When the idea was put to Tom Quigley, MD at Airsys, it quickly spiralled into the state of the art end product we have taken delivery of. Andy Wilson, Sales Director, said:

“I thought we could do with something that any of the sales guys could tow along to a dealer to get the message across, it was meant to be a fairly small investment. As soon as Tom and Steve got their heads together though, it has ended up as this all singing and all dancing solution which, by anyone’s estimation, is extremely impressive. With the final cost coming in at over £100k, it’s no longer a small investment though!”


Tom Quigley added:

“I believe that as an industry we only have a certain window to get the message across to the channel and end users alike of the benefits of Digital PMR. At Airsys we have always believed that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing properly – the vehicle we have produced is testimony to that philosophy. I am confident that our suppliers, ourselves and the dealer community as a whole will reap significant reward in the short, medium and long term through the targeted deployment of this tool, especially when used in line with our Solutions Plus service. This decision also let’s our customers know that Airsys is here to help and support growth – we are demonstrating that with actions and investment, not just with words”.

JVC Dealer Day – August 2010

The vehicle contains Kenwood Nexedge, MOTOTRBO, Foretrack tracking and JVC Professional CCTV equipment, all ready for demonstration at the click of a button. With such an extensive portfolio it’s reasonable to say that a dealer has a fair chance of securing some business from any visit.
